Active Healthy Living

As a company and also through our brands we support a variety of different programmes to help people get more active because we want to make a positive impact on people's health and wellbeing. We want to help people manage their calorie intake and energy balance by providing a wide range of products, and by encouraging them to adopt active lifestyles.

Public Health Responsibility Deal

In March 2011, Coca-Cola Great Britain announced it was becoming a partner in the Government's Public Health Responsibility Deal. We've committed to work in partnership with health professionals, consumer groups and the Government to drive forward collective pledges that encourage active, healthy lifestyles. Our pledges include:

  1. Using our local presence to get young people and adults more active
  2. Promoting and supporting more active travel amongst our employees
  3. Increasing physical activity in the workplace
  4. Communicating and promoting the Chief Medical Officer's revised physical activity guidelines
  5. Helping to tackle the barriers to participation in physical activity faced by some of the most inactive groups in society
  6. Implementing some basic measures for encouraging healthier staff food provision
  7. Using only occupational health services which meet the new occupational health standards

In addition, we also committed to report on levels of sickness absence rate amongst Coca-Cola Great Britain employees, with a reported absence rate of just 1% for 2011.

An update on the progress we've made against each of these pledges in the past year can be found on the Department of Health's website at:

Active lifestyles
Physical activity is vital to health and wellbeing. We've supported Special Olympics GB for 34 years and we’re supporting StreetGames, a charity which brings doorstep sport to young people in disadvantaged communities.

Active lifestyles
You should try to take at least 30 minutes of daily aerobic exercise. If you struggle to find time, try to change your routine to fit it in by getting off the bus a stop early or cycling in to work or school.
