Supporting global agreements

In 2008 the UK government established the Climate Change Act - the world's first legally binding framework to tackle climate change. The Act sets targets to reduce the UK's greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2.

The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 34% by 2020 and 80% by 2050, from the 1990 baseline. Coca-Cola in the UK fully supports the Climate Change Act.

  • In 2009 the Coca-Cola Company and CCE both signed the Copenhagen Communiqué, along with over 600 global companies. The communique was developed by The Prince of Wales'Corporate Leaders'Group on Climate Change (CLG) which brings together business leaders from major UK, EU and international companies who believe that there is an urgent need to develop new and longer-term policies for tackling climate change

The Communiqué, called for an ambitious, robust and equitable global deal on climate change that responds credibly to the scale and urgency of the crisis facing the world today.
