Business Mentoring Programme

Coca-Cola Great Britain works in active partnership with the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Education Business Partnership (LBHFEBP) to support a programme of business mentoring to young people from schools local to our offices in Hammersmith.

Employees at our Coca-Cola Great Britain office volunteer their time to act as business mentors to the young people to help them grow their self-confidence while learning and understanding something about the world of work.

Mentoring

The business mentoring and peer tutoring programme run by the LBHF_EBP is a unique scheme that links local secondary school students with primary school pupils to support a number of activities within the primary school such as reading. This has proved to be of real benefit to the successful implementation of the literacy hour in primary schools and has had a positive impact on literacy targets.

The programme engages young people in the process of learning through recognising their adult potential and placing them in positions of responsibility and trust within the supportive environment of a primary school.

Youth Awards

The Coca-Cola Great Britain mentors are paired on a one to one basis with secondary school students and they meet once every two weeks to provide advice, support and additional encouragement over the course of the year-long programme. The mentors have been specially trained by the LBHF_EBP to give non-judgemental support, to help motivate and inspire the young person as they move through a range of new life experiences. Employees find their role immensely rewarding and each gain a valuable insight into the latest trends and pastimes that are enjoyed by young people.
