Introduction

‘Coca-Cola’ first arrived in Great Britain in 1900 when Charles Candler, son of Asa Candler, the owner of The Coca-Cola Company, brought a jug of syrup with him on a visit to London. It was first sold in Great Britain on 31st August 1900 and later went on regular sale through soda fountain outlets in places such as Selfridges and The London Coliseum.

The value of our total 2006 community contribution.

Today, Coca-Cola Enterprises and Coca-Cola Great Britain make a significant contribution to the British economy and employ over 4,500 people across England, Scotland and Wales. We’ve developed strong relationships with the local communities in which we operate and play an important role in supporting some of the country’s most prominent sporting activities including the Football League. We believe we have a responsibility to the local community and we want to continue to make a positive difference.

We do this in two ways – firstly through the economic benefit resulting from our business activities and, secondly, through the many community and charitable programmes in which we participate at a local level.

It’s important that companies show they are aware of the communities they are operating in.
