Stakeholder engagement

In 2008 and 2009, we conducted a range of stakeholder engagement exercises.

Coca-Cola Connects

Coca-Cola Connects is an internal programme to develop the engagement skills and potential of our senior management. Through a targeted programme of networking with NGOs and political organisations we have been able to explore attitudes and opinions on a variety of issues including sustainability and the London 2012 Olympics. We're proud to be sponsoring London 2012 and we are the longest-standing Olympic sponsor in the modern history of the Games.

Customer sustainability analysis

In 2008, CCE asked Forum for the Future, the UK sustainable development charity, to review our customers' intentions and opinions on the environment and sustainability. CCE's customers include general and food, as well as forecourt retailers, such as petrol stations and food services companies.

The survey interviewed 15 European retailers on their current sustainability initiatives and targets and their likely future intentions for five to ten years time. The results showed that CCE customers think that:

  • Carbon management, waste and packaging are key issues that CCE should be tackling
  • Refrigeration provided by CCE needs to keep pace with developments in energy efficiency and refrigeration gases
  • CCE should be a partner to develop efficient recycling programmes, particularly linked to the visible impact of waste
  • CCE is seen as a leading supplier on water, logistics and packaging
  • CCE's commitment on corporate responsibility needs to translate into real performance improvements.
